You Don't Like Makeup Because You're Overcomplicating it...

Makeup is so over-complicated these days. Just like skincare, the internet leads you to believe you have to have tons of steps to achieve a good result. That's just not true, and honestly, the feeling that you need to do so much is the easiest way to make you hate makeup.

In actuality, when most people simplify their skincare routine is when they see real results. It's actually attainable to do. You let the ingredients work instead of fighting with so many others. It's the same with makeup!

I hear people say that makeup is "Too complicated/I don't know how to apply it" far too often. I also hear "I don't like how heavy it feels on my skin" which just means you're not using the right products.

My daily makeup routine consists of three products. That's it. It's easy, fast and something I can actually handle doing every single day. I use products that look natural and beautiful while giving me tons of skin-benefitting ingredients. Here's what makes up the ultimate minimalist routine:

  1. A Breathable Base: You don't need to contour, bake, bronze, etc every day. All you need is a light, tone-correcting base, like our BB or CC cream, that calms redness and evens out your complexion. Skip the sponges and dirty brushes. Use the warmth of your clean fingertips to smooth it over your skin just like a moisturizer. In 30 seconds, your skin looks like your skin but better. If a product feels heavy, mask-like, or cakey, it doesn't belong in your bag.
  2. Something Hydrating for Your Lips: Whether you opt for a nourishing, clear lip balm, or a soft, subtle gloss for a touch of color, keeping your lips hydrated is a must. Look for formulas that actually lock in moisture and benefit your lips long-term instead of something that continues to dry out your lips, making you apply over and over again.
  3. Mascara For a Little Pop: To finish off your look, apply some mascara to help open up your eyes and make you look fresh and awake (even if you're not really). No need to apply eyeliner or eyeshadow when you can make your eyes pop with mascara.

That’s truly all it takes.

Beauty shouldn't feel like a chore, a 20-minute commitment or something you have to study to achieve. When you strip away the noise and stick to a few high-performance staples, getting ready takes less than two minutes, leaving you feeling confident, fresh and ready to take on your day.
