By now, hopefully you've seen a cute new chestnut face around here, so I wanted to formally introduce him, share more about him and give you an update on how it impacts URGO Beauty...

This business has always been so heavily influenced by my horses, Urban and Ego (like the name URGO), and that will always remain true. But, after losing Urban, there have certainly been some shifts. First, I updated my logo to include a drawing of Urban. Seeing his face all the time, on every product, means so much to me. That's a spot he'll forever hold. Also, Ego has single-handedly taken over being the face of the brand for many years, and slaying at that job might I add.
Ego is 17 now, and is slowing down from his thriving show career. He honestly looks and feels better than ever, but he doesn't owe me ANYTHING, so I am following his lead on what his future holds. If he wants to jump and show, let's do it. If he wants to be a lawn ornament, he is more than welcome to. Honestly, whatever he wants, he gets.
So, over the winter in Ocala, me and my trainers decided it was time to start looking for another horse. We all agreed we wanted to get something young to bring along ourselves (and prices of horses are so crazy these days!) and I didn't feel the need to rush to have something for me to show right now. We looked at a lot of videos. Tried a few. Talked about going to Europe. And then this very large, very green chestnut came along. We weren't sure he was really what we were looking for, but figured it was worth the quick ride down the street to see what he was all about.
Well, after he jumped one jump we were all jaws on the floor. This skinny, leggy, very green horse sure could jump. And his slow and rhythmical canter would definitely stun in the hunter ring. Ok, now we're interested.
So, we went back the next day to try him again. Now, the first day was a beautiful 70 degree Florida day. Sun shining. Birds chirping. Lovely. When we went back the next morning it was 36 degrees and windy. Quite the test for a young horse. But he wasn't phased. He hadn't been lunged. Hadn't been turned out. And he went around even better than he did the day before. My thoughts, "well shit, I guess I really am buying another horse."

A few days later, and after a very extensive vetting of course, and many name rejections before landing on Monty, he was officially mine! The things you don't fully think about when getting a new horse, or at least I didn't because it had been 12 years since I bought a horse, were all the other things you need. He's much bigger than Ego, so I had to get a new bridle, saddle, blankets and even a new trailer- when I say he's tall, I'm really not exaggerating.

But, being at such a different point in my life than when I bought Ego thanks to your support of this brand, I really get to help develop this horse and that is so freakin' cool. He lives at our private farm so I take care of him every day. I get to take him for training or shows. I get to ride him every week. I am learning his goofy, adorable personality so much faster and it is such a fun ride.
I say all of this because he's making his way into my content, so instead of just a random chestnut cutie, I want you to get to know him too. I am beyond grateful that this business has given me the opportunity to live my dream. I can't express how thankful I am to get to devote my time to something I love so much which allows me to spend whatever time I want to and need to on my horses.
I also want you to know that URGO Beauty remains as it was. People have asked how Monty will change the brand. While I will infuse Monty into it in his own way, this business started with my guys, Urban and Ego, and that will never change. I was always the girl with the bays, and now a redhead has entered the chat. He'll definitely make his own mark on the brand, I am sure of it.

I hope you love him as much as I do! Thank you for welcoming Monty to the family and for being a part of this journey.
xoxo,
Chelsea, Ego & Monty
